Send to a field other than email

Hello,

I need to be able to send to a field other than the primary email address field. Why? To send an email similar to a notification email. I also need to be able to report on this email and schedule resends based on some other criteria which is why I can't use a notification email.

Has anyone got a way to do this?

I attempted as a work around switching the alternate field email value via an update rule with the intention of switching back after the email was sent, but you can't update the default Email address field. I'm guessing because it's the unique identifier.
