My company is building a new database that will integrate with Eloqua and their CRM. For a variety of reasons, they do not want to directly integrate the two systems, I have a question about how to best bring in opportunity information into the new DB.
I have always seen opportunity info brought in as an object and connected through a many to one relationship with the lead/contact through the account. They are proposing to bring over opportunity data as activities in an activity history interaction table. Therefore any time an opportunity field is updated, the data will be timestamped in the new DB. The way it's explained sounds feasible, but I am trying to think through any issues. I see issues with reporting on current opportunity status and segmenting off of opportunity stage.
