If you add a filter to a segment, the number of contacts in that filter is shown on the right. If you have more than one filter or shared list in your segment (either included or excluded) you will see the total number of contacts in your segment at the top.
Adding your filter to a segment would be the quickest way to see how many contacts you have in a particular filter. Hope this helps!
