Re: HTML in Eloqua

Hey Natalia,

I have a few questions for clarification...

  • Are you on E9 or E10?
  • Are you referring to email or hypersites?
  • You say you're inserting code into the text editor, are you coding the HTML outside of Elq and inserting or uploading to Elq, or are you using the WYSIWYG builder with templates? The text editor should simply display nothing but the letters and characters of your code, and that should wrap within the containing window (in E10 for sure, I feel like in E9 one may have to scroll). The WYSIWYG editor should display a visual of what the code is coded to portray visually. It has tools to help you interact with the templates and set elements within the HTML (e.g. fonts, colors, widths etc).
  • Are you using field merges?

Based on the knowledge given so far, I would think that maybe you are interacting with the dimension of the outer shell of the LP or email, but the interior of that shell may perhaps have an element or a combination of elements with widths that collaboratively span past the widths you are setting to the outer shell causing it to still push the width wider than expected.

Another thought might be, if you are using field merges, sometimes they expand the view in the WYSIWYG editor and you don't get a proper view until you actually send the email and those long field merges populate with the appropriate data.
